Top Television Choices: Seven Must-Watch Movies This Coming Week

Highlighted Choice

This Satirical Thriller

Coralie Fargeat's daring commentary examines the tyranny of feminine aesthetics along with the dreaded aspects of growing older. Hollywood star Demi Moore presents a brilliant acting turn as Elisabeth, a 50-year-old actress reduced to hosting an aerobics show on TV. Pushed out due to her deceitful superior Harvey, she turns to a mysterious and horrifying procedure known as this experimental method. This produces a new version of herself called Sue, resulting in an increasingly toxic connection between the two. This Friday, the streaming service Paramount+

The Woman in Cabin 10 Film

This classic whodunit mystery stars the talented actress as Laura, a top-notch writer who opts for a hiatus from writing about global conflict to board an opulent ship with an ailing Scandinavian billionaire and donor, her husband, and other affluent passengers. But after a mysterious woman disappears from the ship during the evening and all passengers claims she was never there, Laura's investigative instincts kick in. Streaming currently, the Netflix platform

Presence Film

The acclaimed director pushes his creative boundaries with this innovative supernatural story filmed completely from the perspective of a ghost. After a clan with Lucy Liu as Rebekah and her distressed teen Chloe occupies their recent residence, the filming device – representing the ghost – tracks their movements. The teen shows signs of sensing the ghostly being, and it seems defensive toward her. But why? The premise is enjoyable that doesn't outstay its welcome, including a revelation that may be unexpected. Saturday 11 October, multiple showings, the Sky channel

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

Cage fully commits to his eccentric image in this self-referential adventure. He plays a narcissistic Hollywood actor named Nicolas Cage who accepts a million-dollar gig to visit a birthday party in Mallorca for the rich superfan Javi. Hired by the CIA to investigate the potential kingpin, the actor's “nouveau shamanic acting ability” is put to the test. Saturday 11 October, prime time, Channel 4

The Black Phone

The director's contained scarefest stands strong even without a continuation. Taking place in 1978 Denver, several kidnappings has rendered the local kids anxious. After Finney gets captured by the villain and held captive in a dungeon, he fears a fatal end. But the old telephone on the wall keeps ringing, with ghostly voices providing assistance, while the prophetic visions from his sibling Gwen might rescue him. A genuinely scary movie. This Saturday, 10.50pm, on Film4

The Tammy Faye Biopic

In the conflict between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for Mammon in Showalter's delightfully tacky film adaptation about the fallen televangelist and her felon spouse. The actor plays the greedy Jim, who states initially, asserting religious justification for riches. He and Tammy Faye commence capitalizing on the American public's religious faith. It's a riot of poor styling, overdone appearance and hypocrisy, yet Chastain succeeds to show the real-life figure with compassion. October 14th, early morning, on Film4

The Spy Mystery

This week's additional entry from Steven Soderbergh presents a spy mystery as tight like the turtlenecks sported by Fassbender's intelligence officer. His assignment is with uncovering a mole within their ranks from five suspects – one of whom is Kathryn, played by Cate Blanchett. Each performer are masters of calm composure, leading to a delightful mental battle of truth or lie takes place. Additional actors join in the intelligent intelligence fun. October 17th, various showings, the Sky channel
